10 More Bucket List Recommendations for You

This is a continuation of the 10 exciting things I recommend for your bucket list, that I posted in January. I decided to extend those bucket list recommendations and add ten more things. And, getting married is not on the list.

1. Attend the Olympics

Attending the Olympics might be a regular event for some and their families. But for some others like myself, things like these go on our bucket lists. Or, is the joy and the whole experience not worthy of a spot your bucket list? Try to attend the Olympics at least once in your lifetime.

2. Fly on a private jet without posting on social media

Life would be boring without photographs. But to flying on a private jet without littering social media with photographs of the trip? Ah, that would be tough for some social media “sharers” (myself included). But I love the challenge! I am sure I will take photographs, no doubt. But I will not post on any social media, just so I can cross this item off my bucket list.

3. Have your portrait painted

This is a fun bucket list recommendation to consider. You do not have to be a governor or some “important person”. But who knows… having your portrait painted might even make you into an important person. Just saying!

I already had a digital portrait created out of an old photograph. And in a few years time, I will get my portrait painted.

4. Ride on a chariot

I once had the opportunity to ride on a chariot, but I was too lazy. Please do not be like me! Do not be lazy when the opportunity comes. Riding on a chariot might not be a big deal, but only a few people will ever get to do this. Or, would you rather leave this earth never having ridden on a chariot? No man… no.

5. Visit every continent

This bucket list recommendation should appeal to the travelers out there. I too love to travel and have only visited about 4% of the world. And if you have not visited every continent in the world, then it is time to consider traveling the world.

Did you know that it is possible to travel around the world under a single flight booking?

6. Buy a brand new car, cash

One of the sister companies of the company where I currently, work offers car leases. That means the company buys you a brand new car while you pay back monthly for up to three and a half years. This does not count though!

What I mean here is buying a brand new car in cash! Some people may never buy a car, not even a used one. So you have to admit that paying for a brand new car in cash, is worth adding to your bucket list. And when you do, do not forget to celebrate with a bottle of red wine!

7. Visit the seven wonders of the world

While you are traveling and visiting the seven continents, be sure to check out the seven wonders of the world. That would be killing two birds with one stone. Or should I say, fourteen birds with one stone?

8. Visit every state capital of your country

And while you visit other people’s countries, do not forget to explore your own country. Nigeria has thirty-seven states and I realized that I have not really seen Nigeria. So in 2015, I decided that I needed to see more of my country.

The plan is simple: Visit every state capital in Nigeria! That means…

Spend a weekend or at least two nights there, eat a local delicacy of that city, and get lost at least once. I have already made a cost estimate for this and I plan to cross this off, state by state, in the coming years.

9. Drive on the Autobahn

For those who do not know, the Autobahn is a federal highway in Germany. And it is more than just a highway! I first heard about the Autobahn when I saw a documentary about it on DSTv many years ago.

German engineers designed the Autobahn for speed! It is over a dozen kilometers long and has different speed limits at different points. Some parts of it even have no speed limits! They engineered its bends and turns to combine speed, safety and driving pleasure.

So if you like high speed driving, then driving on the Autobahn should be on your bucket list. And you also get to visit Germany.

10. Sponsor a student through school

Another one of my favorite bucket list recommendations. This one should appeal to givers and philanthropists to-be. Whether primary, secondary school or university, you should consider sponsoring someone through school. And the person should not be your dependent. That means, not your child or cousin or niece or nephew.

I have always wanted to do this one. So I did the calculations and realized that it is actually more affordable than I thought. If you have a regular source of income, you could put something aside monthly to raise the money. Primary school or secondary school tuition should be easier to raise.

If you want to challenge yourself further, I have a suggestion. Sponsor a child’s education from primary school through university, until their first degree. How is that for a challenge?
